Artist Statement

Shony is a Melbourne-based artist whose paintings embody a dreamlike calm. Working in a language of soft tones, textured surfaces, and organic forms, she creates spaces that feel suspended between memory and dream.

Her compositions float between minimalism, realism, subtle abstraction and wabi sabi philosophy - never too perfect, never too planned. 

Drawing inspiration from architectural lines, the serenity of nature, coastal lifestyle, and distant travels, Shony’s pieces carry echoes of wanderlust and memory. They invite the viewer not to observe, but to step inside a space where texture becomes time, and color becomes memory.

Working in layered surfaces and muted palettes, she transforms fragments of place, memory, and form into atmospheric compositions. Her paintings embody an unresolved balance of spontaneity and structure, imperfection and precision - serene on the surface, but with enough depth to keep the viewer looking twice.
